Plant Arrival

Exceptional plants. Carefully selected. Professionally shipped.

At Fanelli Cycads, we take pride in every plant that leaves our nursery. As a family-operated specialty nursery in Southern California, we personally select, inspect, and carefully prepare our specimens for shipment.

Our commitment is simple: healthy, high-quality plants, professional packaging, and exceptional customer care.

Plant Selection & Quality

We ship only healthy, well-established specimens that meet our quality standards.

  • Every plant is inspected before shipment.
  • When purchasing from a group of comparable plants, we select the strongest and healthiest available specimen.
  • When a listing features a specific individual specimen, that is the plant you will receive.
  • Every order is carefully packaged to protect the plant during transit.

Shipping & Packaging

We ship via USPS Priority Mail.

Packaging is tailored to the size and requirements of each specimen:

  • Smaller plants are generally shipped in their nursery pots to minimize root disturbance.
  • Larger specimens are typically shipped bare-root for safer, more efficient transport.
  • Exceptional or oversized specimens may require specialized arrangements or local pickup, as noted in the listing.

Please unpack your plants promptly upon delivery and protect them from extreme temperatures.

Combined Shipping & Shipping Overages

We make every effort to keep shipping costs fair and reasonable.

Whenever practical, multiple plants are combined into a single shipment to reduce costs.

All shipping overages are refunded. If the amount collected at checkout exceeds the final shipping charge, the difference is returned to the customer.

CITES & Regulatory Compliance

Fanelli Cycads is committed to responsible cultivation, conservation, and the lawful trade of rare and endangered plants.

We comply with applicable CITES regulations and plant-shipping requirements.

CITES-listed plants are available for sale and shipment within the United States only. Additional restrictions may apply to certain species or destinations.

Plant Arrival & Acclimation

Please unpack and inspect your plants promptly upon arrival.

Many Burseraceae (Boswellia, Commiphora, and Bursera) and other pachycaul or caudiciform trees naturally shed their foliage in response to shipping, bare-rooting, changes in growing conditions, or seasonal dormancy.

Partial or complete leaf loss is a normal response in many of these species and does not indicate an unhealthy plant.

Healthy specimens will resume active growth and produce new foliage when provided with appropriate growing conditions and seasonal temperatures. The timing varies by species and season.

We encourage customers to familiarize themselves with the specific growing requirements of their plants before arrival.

Sales Policy & Shipping Damage

All sales are final.

Orders are subject to availability and applicable shipping restrictions. If we cannot fulfill an item, we will contact you and refund that item.

We stand behind the quality of our specimens and the care taken in preparing each shipment.

If a plant arrives physically damaged, please:

  1. Photograph the shipping box, including any visible exterior damage.
  2. Take clear, detailed photographs of the specimen and interior packaging.
  3. Contact us as soon as possible after delivery with your order information and photographs.

Please retain the original packaging until the situation has been reviewed.

We evaluate shipping damage individually and, when warranted, will provide a replacement specimen, subject to availability, or issue a refund.

Normal leaf loss associated with shipping or acclimation is not considered shipping damage.

Nothing in this policy limits rights provided under applicable law.
